Tempered
exuberance
The year 2022 is no exception to the recent rule of vintages that have many surprises for us. The vintage began with a relatively dry winter, which did not allow water reserves to be fully recharged. On April 4, spring frost once again struck early vegetation. Luckily, nature was kind and spared our vines…
The flowering took place in good weather conditions, followed by a slow veraison due to the drought, which was however caught up by a lightning ripening of the berries which then became very concentrated and rich, allowing the harvest to start on September 7.
By the 27th of the same month, we had harvested everything and as we tasted the vats, the certainty of having an exceptional vintage took hold of us. It was hard to believe that with this drought and these extreme summer temperatures, we could achieve such balance.
However, the Cabernet Sauvignons have an incomparable class and the Merlots are concentrated, velvety and fresh.
“The vintage left us spoiled for choice when it came to drawing on the variety of our terroirs, but from 2022 onwards we have decided to refocus the Grand Vin around the heart of its historic terroir.”
The vintage left us spoiled for choice when it came to drawing on the variety of our terroirs, but from 2022 onwards we have decided to refocus the Grand Vin around the heart of its historic terroir, the magnificent Graves hillside overlooking the commune of Margaux and its old Cabernet Sauvignon vines which are the majority in the blend.
Château Lascombes reflects the exceptional conditions of the vintage with a rare balance of sumptuous richness; framed by a distinguished framework. Lots of fruit, very creamy, rich and fresh at the same time with silky tannins. A 2022 vintage to conquer the historic identity of Lascombes, a work of exploration and understanding that begins with this new packaging, a reflection of the plot work of yesteryear rediscovered.
You know Lascombes, are you sure?
